The Short Novel
In this workshop, you will learn how to craft a short novel, or novella, from brainstorming to final polishing. Techniques of a strong beginning, masterfully rendered characters, vivid description, and concise language will be highlighted as a means of engaging your reader. Discussion of scene building, plot, pacing, and a strong ending, along with writing and editorial feedback, will fill our class time. From week to week you will draft and revise your work and receive constructive feedback from both the instructor and workshop participants. You may bring work you've already begun or start a project wholly new. Writers of all experience are welcome in this course.
